McGill 63 @ Sherbrooke 5 Oct. 28, 2007 MONTREAL The Redmen contest with the Sherbrooke Vert et Or has always followed the same tune. Sherbrooke always manages to give the Redmen a scare in Sherbrooke; this year McGill had to come from behind to steal a 10-6 victory. But when Sherbrooke walked onto Molson Stadium this past Sunday, the Redmen were quick to wipe the smiles off of their faces and wash the hope out of their hearts. The depth and dominant physicality of the McGill backrow was at its best. 6 tries came from support runs from flankers Caleb Balloch and Jon Macintosh, and eight man Casey Ruiter. The victory extended McGills win streak to 12 straight games in Quebec league and playoff action, dating back to their last QURL loss, a 19-15 setback at Concordia, Oct. 11, 2006. Rounding out the McGill scoring with single tries apiece was Dave Tontini and Bryce Thomassin, both natives of Pointe Claire, Que., plus Jon Phelan, Cayse Ruiter of Ottawa and Jesse Myers of Toronto. The Redmen, who improved to 9-1 overall this season, finished atop the Quebec league standings for the sixth consecutive season. McGill posted a perfect 8-0 record and will host fourth-place Concordia in a sudden-death semifinal at Molson Stadium, Nov. 4. Sherbrooke will likely be back in Montreal for the Cup finals, an impressive success for them, but they will not be believing in more than a second place finish.
