McGill 25 @ Concordia 10 Nov. 04, 2007 CONCORDIA- (Written by McGill Redmen Jon Glancy) First quarter, Zephyr, the god of the west wind aided Concordia to its first and only try of the match. A long clearing kick squandered in the air for too long and bounced neatly into the hands of Concordias #10 as he jetted to the corner of the endzone. Try given. Kick failed. The Redmen were no to be flustered as Caleb Balloch convincingly bellowed through 4 defenders to score McGills first try of the match at 24:45 time remaining. This was one instance of many where the Infamous Threat ambushed the Concordia squad with blocked kicks or punishing runs, in either case his infamous presence was made. Kick failed. Other notable plays of the first half included a gruesome hit on #10 by our #7, Jon McIntosh; and a 50+ yard sprint by Tontini down the middle of the field where unheard of sidesteps and jooks were illegally used by a man of such stoutness. That set up another McGill try at 12:24 left in the half, on a beautifully-executed front peel off a line out. Try given to Caleb Balloch. Kick failed. To end the half, McGill broke long on another suberb example of player
talent. It began when Jon McIntosh intercepted a pass from Concordias
#9 and promptly offloaded to our own Jesse Myers. Fifteen yards later,
Kyle Buckley took the ball near the sideline and quickly changed directions
dashing laterally across the field to open space. As Buckley turned the
corner, Evan appeared like rocket and received a pass from Buckley wide
open for a try. Kick failed. The second half, the forwards picked up their intensity to a level unmatched by the Bumblebees. Thanks to a blocked kick by Jesse Myer and stupid pass by the Stingers, Alex Hart simply had to pick up the loose ball for an early McGill try. Kick failed. On a similar play at 15:40 left, Concordia managed to block a kick the
McGill endzone, which led to a lucky Concordia try. Conversion unsuccessful.
