Sunday September 17th vs Concordia

McGill 19, Concordia 11

Matt de Graff proved the better boot over opposing standoff Scott Gill as McGill settled the score with the Concordia Stingers. Matt nailed 3 long penalties in the first half which combined with two textbook tries in the second to improve the Redmen record to 3-0. 2nd Row Alex Hart scored in the corner after a series of wide plays stretched the Concordia defensive past the break point. Jon Antonecchia took credit for a ten yard forward maul that burst over the try line for the Redmen's second score. Another notable was the literally crippling defense of Nick Cadrin who violently silence the Concordia offensive on several occasions. The Redmen managed to hold their lead with great defensive kicking by Matt, and the game ended with even the referee pitying the Stinger's inability to score, awarding them with the garbage try that was held up on the final whistle. It was a moot point, as McGill won the first round against their crosstown rivals convincingly.
