Wednesday
Oct. 11th at Concordia
McGill 15, Concordia 19
It's never fun losing to Concordia. Especially not on the last play of a hardfought game. But that's just what happened, and the 2006 Redmen know they have some work to do if they want to bring home the Championships this year. The game had many positives; McGill had several strong goal-line stands to keep the Stinger's scoreless in the first half, while the Redmen scored twice. Adam Sommer took credit (this is becoming a habit of his) for a gorgeous forwards maul from ten yards out. Nick Cadrin scored in the corner after a relentless set of phase ball by McGill spread the Concordia defense past break point. But if bees don't sting, they don't die, and Concordia returned to the field showing some serious signs of life in the second half. Matthew DeGraff kept the Redmen ahead with a classy drop goal after two Stinger's tries. But a series of penalties drop the Redmen back and they were left with a bitter taste in their mouths as their meagre one point lead was toppled by a last minute Stinger's try. Its back to the drawing board for McGill as they now must earn homefield advantage with a win over Bishop's next week. |
